Efydd Ffrwydriadol / Explosive Bronze
Defnyddiais y broses ‘cored lost wax’ i gyeu’r cerflun efydd hwn. Yn hytrach na weldio’r twll y ‘core’ i fyny, penderfynais arbrofi â thecstilau er mwyn gweld a fyddai efydd a thecstilau yn edrych yn effeithiol gyda’i gilydd. Ar ôl ychwanegu amrywiol wlân i’r darn efydd, credaf ei fod yn gerflun sy’n cyfleu’r elfen ffrwydriadol i’r darn.
I created this bronze sculpture by using the cored lost wax process. Instead of welding up the core hole, I decided to experiment with textiles to see if bronze and textiles would look effective together. After adding various wool to the bronze piece, I believe that this has added an explosive feel to the sculpture piece.
Haearn Ffrwydriadol / Explosive Iron
Ar ôl gweld yr effaith cefais gyda’r darn efydd, penderfynais creu ail gerflun o haearn. Y tro hwn defnyddiais y broses, ‘direct burnout’. Ymatebodd yr haearn yn ffrwydriadol gyda’r ffôm ac fe ddechreuodd y mowld gracio yn hanner. Er hyn fe ddaeth dau haen denau o haearn allan o’r mowld; mae hyn yn gadael i mi arbrofi ymhellach gyda haearn a thecstilau. Unwaith eto ychwanegais amrywiol wlân i’r darn er mwyn cyfleu’r effaith ffrwydriadol a ddigwyddodd wrth greu’r cerflun hwn.
After seeing the effect that I had with the bronze piece, I decided to recreate an iron sculpture. This time I used a direct burnout process. The iron reacted with the foam and the mould started to crack in half. Two thin pieces of iron came out of the mould; which allowed me to experiment further with iron and wool. Once again I added various wool to the piece which reflects the explosive effect that happened whilst creating this sculpture.

Dwi’n gerflunydd sydd yn creu darnau cerfluniol gan ddefnyddio hen ddeunyddiau hindreuliedig gan ychwanegu yr elfen gyfoes iddynt wrth gyfleu a chysylltu deunyddiau/eitemau. Dwi’n ferch fferm, felly rwy’n cymryd deunyddiau/eitemau a fu’n werthfawr ar un adeg ar y fferm a fyddai’n cael eu gwerthfawrogi unwaith eto mewn byd celfyddydol. Dwi wedi cael fy nghyffroi gyda amrywiol llifiadau; llifo haearn, llifo efydd a llifo alwminiwm. Dwi hefyd wedi cael fy nghyffroi wrth weld haearn yn ymateb gyda’g amrywiol ddeunyddiau sydd wedi’i gosod yn y mowld.
Bwriad fy ngwaith diweddaraf yw cyfleu pwy ydw i gan ddefnyddio’r deunyddiau dur, haearn a thecstilau. Wrth gyfuno’r deunyddiau hyn rwy’n ceisio gwthio yn erbyn yr hyn sy’n cael ei weld fel y rôlau penodol yn ôl rhyw yn y gweithle. Wrth ychwanegu deunyddiau’r fferm rwy’n cyfuno elfen arall o fy mywyd i fy ngwaith ond hefyd yn rhoi rôl metafforig i’r offer hyn.
I am a sculptor that creates sculptural items using old found-objects/materials with the addition of contemporary elements. I am a farmer’s daughter, so I take materials/items which were once valuable on the farm but have since become redundant and transform them to be precious once again, but this time with a different purpose within the artistic world. I have also fallen in love with creating new items from casting iron, bronze and aluminium. I became excited when seeing iron react when various materials have been placed in the mould.
The aim for my latest work is to portray who I am by using steel, iron and textiles. By combining these materials, I am challenging the stereo-typical gender-specific roles in the workplace. By using farm objects, I am adding another element of my life to my work but also giving these implements a metaphoric role.
