Residential Workshops

Art through Photography – each workshop tailored to the individual.

Fine Art Photography ~ Handmade Books ~ Ceramic Wall Art ~  Prints from Etchings & Prints from WoodcuT

As you will see if you glance through the images below, we are lucky enough to have an amazing space and an amazing location, in which to be creative. We want to be able to share this space with like-minded people; those who are itching to do something new, something a little creative and something they maybe didn’t  know they could.

If you have seen my blog, Dairy News, (really out of date I’m afraid) you will see how anything is possible if you just have a go. Just a few years ago I couldn’t even take a decent photograph; I am now creating ‘art’, Handmade Books, Wall Art Ceramics, Etching and Collagraph Prints, all from my photography. John is creating beautiful prints from woodcuts, all based on his starting point of a photograph. Our workshops will provide you with the means to be creative, whatever your starting point.

We want the workshops to be relaxing & enjoyable but genuinely rewarding also, passing on to our guests an artistic and creative hobby which they can take away and enjoy further. And for those who would like to hone their photographic skills we will be honoured to give you all the help we can.

The following images are of my Mystical Tree, the starting point for my first attempts at Ceramics and Etching.

Each workshop will start with a photograph. If you wish to bring your own images for a Bookmaking, Printmaking or Ceramic workshop, please do so – you are halfway there. Alternatively, you can start with a photography session here, taking images either from your own camera, with one to one guidance if you would like, or from a pinhole camera, a Hasselblad, a 5×4 Sinar or British made Titan; a mobile phone shot to a top DSLR, we have all these camera for you to use.

Our location is perfect, one mile from Pembrokeshire’s stunning Coastal Path, St Brides Castle, Church and Beach and we have a large studio for still life work and inclement weather. Oh! And if you are a lover of sunsets, then please bring the weather.

My philosophy is simple. I know that there is an artist inside all of us. A good starting point is a camera; now just a phone is sufficient. I look through my camera and I see my own vision of an image and attempt to create it through my lens. I wanted to extend this vision further and so I continued with my studies at Carmarthen School of the Arts in order to learn more about the creative side of Art. Art through Photography. A starting point for everyone and everyone can do it.

If you are interested in how I have come to this philosophy then I hope you will visit my photography website, www.janeevedixon.com It tells and shows a lot about myself and my own personal vision. You will see my own journey as I develop creatively through my photography.
